Welcome to The West Grantham Church of England Primary Academy, supported by the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham Multi Academy Trust.
Our primary aim is to deliver an excellent education that empowers children and equips them for an aspirational future of life-long learning. ‘To champion and rejoice in those we serve, creating an environment where excellence is achieved and potential fulfilled’.

We stand up for what is right and are not afraid to learn from our mistakes as we push ourselves to be the very best that we can be.
“Be strong and
courageous. Do not be
afraid; do not be
discouraged, for the Lord
your God will be with you
wherever you go”
Joshua 1:9

We have unwavering
confidence in ourselves, in
others, and in our
capacity to succeed.
“All things are possible to
him who believes”
Mark 9:23

We are dedicated and
devoted to, serving
others, achieving
excellence and celebrating
success.
“Love is patient, love is
kind. It does not envy, it
does not boast, it is not
proud. It always protects,
always trusts, always
hopes, always perseveres”
1 Corinthians 13:4 & 7

We have unlimited hopes
and aspirations so all
can achieve their full
potential.
“I can do all things
through Christ who
strengthens me”
Philippians 4:13

We are honest, ensuring
that our actions are
guided by strong moral
principles that we refuse
to change.
“The integrity of the
upright guides them”
Proverbs 11:3
Today in Science, we started our topic of life and looked specifically at teeth. We learnt that children have 20 teeth and when we get our secondary teeth, that changes to 32. We know there are 4 different types of teeth and what job each of them does.
Once we had matched the right teeth to their names, everyone was given an apple to bite into to see an iprint of their own teeth. This helped us clearly see the size of our teeth and identify which ones were missing ready for our secondary teeth to come through. Some lucky children were also chosen by our random name generator on Class Dojo to receive a new toothbrush and toothpaste.

This term, we have been focusing on the eye and how we see. As we will be writing a non-chronological report about the eye, we thought we would dissect a sheep’s eye.
After the initial shock of the smell, the children were all very interested in seeing the different parts of the eye, identifying them, looking through microscopes at the dissected parts, and also having a go at dissecting them themselves!
They all showed courage by trying something new, even though it may have been out of their comfort zones.
Well done 6S!

In English today, we dissected sheep eyes! This was linked to our novel, The Viewer, our Science (where we are looking at light and how we see objects) and also an introduction to our next piece of writing, which will be a non-chronological report about the eye.
Other than the smell (which was quite unpleasant!), the children were all engaged in watching the dissection. They then had the opportunity to hold the eyeball and touch the inside of the eye and lens, whilst wearing gloves.
Some of the pieces that were removed during the dissection where also put into petri dishes and we observed them in closer detail using microscopes.
I was really proud of the children's inquisitiveness and sensible attitude towards the investigation. A fantastic lesson was had by all!
